Claiming Harley Excerpt

“It took me a little bit to find it, but I just found the last thing I was looking for.” Scott Anderson stared at Harley. “You look beautiful, Harley Quaid.”

She knew eventually she would run into Scott, and she thought she was ready to see him, but it was obvious that she was not ready. Her heart pounded and she felt her body reacting to his voice. She glanced at the counter, breaking eye contact with him. “Is this all you need today?” She picked up a box containing a pair of boots. It was hard to keep from jumping over the counter and tackling him. Then she remembered. She was not good enough for him. She was everything he did not want.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you after the accident. How are you doing?”

“There’s nothing to be sorry about. I didn’t expect you to show up out of the blue for the funerals. I knew you were busy with your job and life.” Harley scanned the barcode on the box. “I’m doing okay. Thank you for asking.” She was proud of herself for keeping her voice level, even though she was trembling on the inside. “You’re total is $278.49.”

“I should have been with you,” said Scott. He sounded sincere.

She shook her head. “Joy and I are friends. You and I are not. There was absolutely no reason for you to attend.” She made the mistake of looking into his green eyes. Her girlie parts suddenly came to life.

“You and I are meant to be together.”

Harley shook her head. “No, we are not. The night of my graduation, you made it very clear I meant nothing you.” She paused for a second. “You have your life and I have mine. That is the way it is.”

Scott’s jaw twitched. He handed her a credit card. “We need to talk. Would you have lunch with me?” He stared at Harley. She was even more beautiful in person than she was in the sweet memory that haunted his dreams every night.

The Idea Store

It's in every town and city. You just have to know where to look.

It's the Idea Store.

How do you find it?
First, find the center of the city, then walk three blocks West. Dreamers always go WEST searching for new lands to explore.

At the end of the three blocks, turn left and follow the sidewalk until you find a set of stairs going down into a basement store.

"You have arrived at the Idea Store."

The Idea Store is a really cool spot. The shelves are full of plots and plot twists. there are sections dedicated to heroes--both male and female, and there's a special section in the back of the store for villains. This corner is a little dark and scary, so be careful. It is definitely not for everyone.

The store always has a "buy one get one free" sale on character traits. This is an awesome deal. Your characters can never have enough traits, especially weird ones, though common traits are not bad.

And don't forget to check out their extensive selection of back drops and scenery. They even have a few pre-made world kits. All  you have to do is just add water and stand back.

But please don't do this in the store. The store clerks really frown at this, especially since they're still cleaning up the zombie apocalypse world that an author wanted to sample before he bought it.

Not a good thing to do in the store. The clerks really get upset about cleaning up the pre-made world aisle.

If only it was that easy to get everything you needed for your book at a place like the Idea Store.
